Joey is doing wonderfully well after his surgery. He is running, jumping and playing like nothing ever happened. He races by you and you have to look twice to notice that he only has three legs.
Joey made a very special trip this past week. He went to meet a family interested in adopting him. It was instant love between all. Joey fit right in like he has always been there. Like he knew this was where he was suppose to be. Just the perfect fit. After only one night at the new home, it was HIS new home, HIS new family, HIS forever home. We could not be more excited for Joey or his new family.
We must thank everyone who helped us help Joey. Without all of you it would not have been possible for Joey to find a forever home. He is such a happy, playful boy. He is so lucky to have so many care so much about him. Because of all of you, Joey is now part of a family. Thank you so much.

Help for Joey!
Thank you all for your help regarding Joey. Joey is a 6 month old lab mix who was in dire need of medical care. Joey came to us with a severely deformed front leg. It seemed to have been broken at some time, and proper treatment was not provided for him. Because of this, his leg is bent at his carpus (wrist) causing him pain and discomfort. Also since he has been trying to use the nerve damaged leg, he had it open and raw from dragging on the ground. The best treatment for Joey was amputation. Joey had his leg amputated on Wednesday July 1, 2009 and is recovering well. We are still raising the necessary funds for his surgery. All donations received have been greatly appreciated, but we are unfortunately still in need of more to cover his costs.
The Creampuff Medical Fund was originally established to help with Creampuff. His story is below. This fund has now become our source for treatment of other animals in his same situation like Joey. Because of the generosity shown to Creampuff, Joey did not have to wait for his surgery as Creampuff did. This fund continues to grow, but as you can imagine the costs for surgeries such as this are expensive. Please know that all donations through the link below are going to help with the cost of Joey's surgery.
Please remember that these funds are always needed, some cases may not be as extreme as Creampuff and Joey, but still always needed. Please feel free to contibute to this fund whenever you wish to help us continue to provde the needed treatment for any and all of the animals that come to us.
Help Us Help Cream Puff...
My name is Cream Puff.I am a one year old male pit bull.I was found alongside the road by a caring stranger who stopped when he saw me lying there. The man who found me took me to the Ruth Steinert SPCA in Minersville, PA.The wonderful people at the shelter took me to the local veterinarian for an initial assessment of my condition. It was determined that I had been hit by a car and both of my back legs are badly broken.Fortunately, both of my back legs can be saved with surgery.Unfortunately, the surgery and rehab process will be very expensive. Many people are trying to raise funds to pay for my surgery and rehabilitation but only about half of the funds have been donated so far.Currently I am living with a foster family who is taking care of the rest of my medical and physical needs. The sooner I have my surgery, the sooner I can find a new permanent home with a loving family all of my own.Any donations to help pay for my surgery would be greatly appreciated.
These are Cream Puff's actual x-rays taken at Mountain Shadow Animal Hosital in Schuylkill Haven, PA.

UPDATE!!!
Cream Puff had his surgery, thanks to the generosity of you the community! Unfortunantly, he did break one of the two pins placed in his hip and will have to have another surgery to remove it. The good news though, he is doing terrific!!! He no longer requires the use of his wheel chair and is getting around without any problems at all... He is now a permanent member of his foster family and will live out his days being loved and cared for in every way needed! Thank You everyone who donated to the Cream Puff Surgical Fund. The fund will now be used as an emergency medical fund for animals who find themselves in the same situation as Cream Puff. No animal should ever have to wait for medical care!
